I'm working in Revit Arch. 2010. The floor/ceiling assembly in our building changed thicknesses, which in and of itself wasn't an issue. The problem is with adjusting the Levels to accommodate the larger interstertial space. It's a multi-family building, so we've used groups to create dwelling units. Walls within these groups are associated with the T.O.P. levels, which need to move. If I attempt to move one level at a time, then the "Fix Groups" requirement comes up, which would force me into ungrouping a majority of the project. If I attempt to move all the levels at once, then several error messages come up, but will not go away, no matter how many times I click "unjoin elements." I even tried deleting all the units on the upper levels, hoping that removing the attachments to all but two levels would allow Revit to make the change....but with no success at all. The only other thing I can think to do is to leave the levels where they are and to override dimensional values in section/elevation views. That, however, is not an option in line with office standards/practices! Anyone have any ideas?

You might try editing your floor ... don't need to do much but do not allow alls to connect to its bottom when finished. You can always redit and then attach. BTW - You can start at the top level and move it the distance it needs to move for all the levels below. Then work your way down. In that way, you are only moving one level at a time.

I ended up having to edit the walls within each group to be "unconnected," rather than going up to the level, and deleting the upper level unit groups. Then I was able to move the levels to the correct height, with the exception of one level. For that one, I selected the problem elements by their element ID and manually unjoined them from adjacent walls. If there'd been more than a few, that would have been a pain, too, though! Then, of course, I replaced the upper level groups I'd deleted, and all is well! Thanks for the other ideas, WWHub! The problem was with having multiple instances of the same group on different levels, though, so moving one level at a time didn't work (w/o the deleting/unconnecting process). Worth a try, though!

working on revit 2013 and this just occured.
i wanted to shift a second floor one foot lower. as soon as i did that I got the repeating dialogue "cannot keep elements joined."
there were two "problem areas" that i found by having the dialogue show me (highlighted orange). ended up working after cutting out all orange areas, shifting level to wanted height, then pasting back the geometry in same place.
