I'm working on my first project with Revit (8.1). A master suite addition to an existing house on a sloped grade. I have a tappered hexagonal tower that I created with the mass editor and used "wall by face" to create the structure. It's attached to the room at the corner, and for some reason I can't cut the walls inside the room.
I also traced the contours from an AutoCAD file assigning elevations to the point command in toposurface mode. I need to cut and fill the grade to accommodate the addition. I haven't been able find solutions to these problems.

Not sure about your first issue - screenshot may help... How are you attempting to cut the walls?
for the second issue i'd recommend you take a look at this thread by BG:

In the attached jpeg, I'm trying to "split" the walls inside the addition. Only the verticle and horizontal walls will split, not any of the walls that make the hexagon. The problem with the grade is similar, I'll read the thread you suggested.
Thanks for your help.

They won't split because they are non-vertical walls. (missed that in the first post)
You would need to create a break in your mass to effectively have two different surfaces to apply the walls to, this would then create the split you require...

Thanks, I think that's what I was missing. I'll let you know how it works.

Still having trouble. I'm trying to trim the tapered mass with "void extrusion" I'm trying to create the opening in 3d and I want to take it up to the ceiling. The line tool does not work that way.
I'm not able to see a section cut, I believe because I haven't been able to cut the grade yet. I did check the AUGI forum link about cut and fill. I can't find the "copy internal points" command in Revit. I'm assuming the internal points are the elevation points I created when I was making the contour site.
I need to find more tutorials on site development.
Thanks again for your help, I appreciate the tips.
