OK so I've been looking around at posts regarding cost per sf analysis in revit. What I'd like to do is figure out the total cost for materials that have a cost per sf associated with them, like drywall. From the dozen or so posts on the web I figured that a formula in the schedule is the way to go: Material: Area * Material: Cost / (1' ^ 2) (as suggested by Revit), which can also be written as: (Material: Area / 1 SF) * Material: Cost, as a calculated value parameter in my material takeoff schedule. Well I tried this and got a weird result: it doesn't work for the GYP board in the jpeg below and shows a 0.00 value for the stud layer, when i gave the stud layer a value the 0.00 goes away just like the gyp board value. (see jpeg)To confuse me more I tried this with concrete but as a per CF cost: (Material: Volume / 1 CF) * Material: Cost, and it worked perfectly (see jpeg)Well anyone have an idea? Or maybe some formulas that worked for you?
