So this is kinda complicated to explain, but I have an organic shaped roof and I am making beams to fit the underside of the roof. I made the roof from a generic mass that I made by lofting two sketches together. So I know what the front and back sketches should be, but now I have to create beams inbetween the end sketcheds. Well I thought if I cut the roof at the planes where I needed the beams I would be able to pick the cut edges of the roof to form the extrusion sketch for my beams, but it won't let me pick the cut edges of the roof. It's super frustrating. when I'm not sketching and just pick the roof, revit will highlite those cut edges, so I know it recognizes them, why won't it let me use them to make lines? I've tried eyballing it, but it's hard with the spline because the dots you use to create it are not anchor points that the line passes through, so I have to make the spline the best i can and then go through and adjust all the anchors till the line looks like it's where it should be. This takes way too much time considering it's not just a few beams that I have to create and each one is different. Please if any one knows of a way to cut and object and some how project the cut edges so that they can be used for a sketch, do share. Anoying because in inventor, it will let you cut an edge and use it for a sketch.
