Am I doing somrthing wrong or what? I try to dimension plans and that is already hard enough for it to pick all the right points that you want. But when you have a string of dims and you need to add more to it anything that you have done to the origional string of dimensions is now reset back to default. I'm constantly adding text to dimensions and it never stays when I have to add more to the witness line later. It seems like the best thing to do is to wait till the very end of a project before you dimension anything but that doesn't fly with the boss/architect/owner to see no dimensions. Anybody have any easy tips on how to dimension things without this problem happening???

I don't see any way around it except to be aware of the problem

This just seems like such a serious flaw on AutoDesk part that even the simple things can't be fixed when they release a new version but they seem to be so concerned with the way the user interface looks! Don't get me wrong I enjoy using this program but when you ignore the obvious things it just doesn't seem right.

I guess the question is ... How would you have done it in CAD?

We really get upset when Revit doesn't do as much as we would like even though it is doing more than we ever had before.

Hard to pick the right thing?  Tab key; you should be hitting that sucker in your sleep!

But that's probably beside the point (and no I'm not badgering you).  I would just dimension items individually.  One dimensions string per element dimensioned.  Yeah, it's not an ideal solution, but it keeps your text in-tact.  And I agree- it is very annoying.
