Afternoon guys,

I have a curtain wall system set up using system walls as the panels, and a mullion which I have created myself. I am trying to model the expansion joints along a long run of wall. However the panels do not seem to want to trim correctly against the mullions. The curtain wall panels only seem to be able to trim up to the width of the mullion at the point where the mullion profile crosses the reference planes in the mullion profile family.

I have attached a screenshot illustrating my problem. If it was just a visual thing, I could live with it, but I need to schedule out the volume of the panels, and so they need to butt up agaisnt the mullions correctly. Have any of you guys ever come across this before or can spot where it is I'm going wrong with my curtain wall?

I half suspect it has something to do with the fact that you cannot create new mullion families, merely duplicate one of the default types and use your own profile.

This is so unique, that Revit will not do what you want.  You will have to find another method.

The panel interaction with mullions that you identify is correct.

As such I would, make the mullion profile itself just the thin slivery bit in the middle.  Then I would nest a detail component that encompasses a masking region for the actual shape of the profile which will then give you the required appearance in plan.

Accuracy wise for your quantities it should be pretty close...  Say +/- 0.5%
