Mr. Spot got my interest in shared parameters peaked and I have a crazy idea. I would like to make a symbol family or some such which would use a shared parameter from the project it is loaded into to show the correct information for project consultants on our title sheet. The consultants would be chosen in Project Information from a dropdown box. Does anybody have an idea how to make a shared parameter with a drop down choice or have any thoughts of another way to do this?
Another thing, has anybody ever managed to tie revit into outlook so it could automatically update contact information for consultants? I doubt it is possible but just thought i would throw it out there.
Cheers!

You wouldn't use shared parameters to do that.
You could create a series of symbols for each consultants information and load them into the titleblock family. Then add a "family type" parameter and for annotation symbols. Now apply to one of the consulants annotation blocks.
You can now swap each using the family parameters...
HTH.

Looks like this could be pretty cool Mr. Spot! Thanks! Right now I have the "family type" parameter inside the titleblock's parameters. Is there a way to get it into project information instead?
Cheers!

Certainly can. Back to shared parameters.
You'll notice you can create a shared parameters <family type> parameter.
Same steps as before with adding it into project information...

Try this annotation note. I have created one for each discipline of our consultants. When you have a new consultant for a specific discipline, edit that project team discipline family to add the consultant. Copy one of the existing consultant name & address on top of itself. Then change the name of the system family text type to the name of the consultant - this will allow you to edit a specific consultant later on as the name will appear in the lower left hand corner when you tab through the consultants. Then click on the visible = button to add a new yes/no parameter with the consultants name. This way, you may keep a databse of your consultants in the annotation families and dont have to add all the information per project. I would LOVE if revit could tie into our outlook address book and you can just select the consultant. try it out and if you can improve upon it, please let me know.

Is it possible to sort/filter generic annotation selections? Lets say I have two logos i would like to choose from but when I load the titleblock into a project the parameter drop down has me select from all Generic Annotations in the project, is there a way to filter them so I only can select from the two appropriate logos? Thanks,

It sounds like you want to select between different logos for your titleblock. Is that correct? What you would do is select each logo and under element properties, select visibility. Add a parameter and it will give you a yes/no parameter which you can define for logo 1 do the same for logo 2. When you load the titleblock - under its element properties, you will have the 2 options available to you. You can also create 2 types of the titleblock under the same family where the logos are reseleted, so you only have to use the drop down type box to choose the one you want.

I'm trying to use shared parameters as a Family Type parameter to controle visibility of some elements. As you can see in the screen shot, the part to select Family/Shared Parameter is grayed out and I can't 'Select' the Shared parameter I need. Can someone kindly tell me why this is happening and how to solve it Please!!?? Love and Regards,
