I know this is an easy question. It seems as though it would be, but I'm trying to teach myself Revit and would like to know how to trim a wall that is intersected by a staircase. I have a staircase I put in, and it has a 3/4" t&g plank wall that goes from the floor to the underside of its stringer. THis stringer is the cutting plane - how can i trim this wall using the stringer as the cutting plane? I should end up with a triange for a wall when done. THank you

You can't ... instead, edit the wall profile matching it to the stringer. You will need a view perpindicular to the wall.

Can you please tell me how to do that? If I take a section through the wall and stringer a) I'm not sure how to trim the wall to the stringer ("trim" won't let me pick the stringer bottom as a ref point) and b) does this make it angled out of plane? (i.e my section through is an angled item. So 1" in front of the section the stringer is 1" higher, and 1" behind the section it's 1" lower). Thank you

I didn't say section... I said elevation. Create an elevation that is perpindicular to the wall and has the stair either behind or in front of it. Select the wall and pick edit profile. Now add linework to redefine the wall from its original rectagle to the shape you need. (I assume a sloping top) (Sorry - When I say perpindicular, I mean the elevation pointer points to the wall....)

draw a section parallel to the wall. then in that section, select the wall to modify. the program will go into sketch mode. adjust the top of your wall to match the treads which you should be able to see in the sketch mode view. If the stairs are curving their is a procedure developed by mr spot, look under tutorials on this site. stair wall trimming.
