Tried to create a wood deck family. It loaded correctly in the project file and displays in the project browser in it's correct location (profiles). But when I go into the edit assemblies dialog box to change the deck profile to the one i created, it does not show up in the list. why?

Please discribe your problem better. You use the term family and profile. There are profile families that you can use in other elements but I don't understand what you are trying to do. Are you in Revit Architecture or Structure?
