So my first post on here came to fruition (solved thankfully) and I want to thank emgeeo for his/her help. I figured I would fire another question out there. In reading through the books, tutorials, and forums, I haven't seen any mention of adding a slab edge profile that extends up out of the top of the slab. I'm working on a project currently where this is the case. I thought perhaps that I could modify the Slab Edge profile in REvit already but it seems like that family only applies to Slab on Grade, not elevated decks. I then thought perhaps modifying a beam profile but that seemed inappropriate as well. My last thought was adding an "insulation" layer like I saw in one of the tutorials but I'm not sure how to constrain the extents to which it applies. i.e. I don't want to add the profile to the entire slab, just the edges. I've included a PDF as I'm sure nobody knows what the h*** I'm talking about yet. Thanks for your help.

Attached is a test model with a floor at two different levels. Note that the thickened slabe is attached to both levels but the second level has it above the floor. See the Vertical profile offset setting?

That makes sense. Is this able to attach to an elevated slab? i.e. will it join with the slab? It seemed to me that the Slab Edge conditions only seemed to apply to Slab on Grade situations, as though Revit treated an elevated slab differently than a slab on grade. Correct me if I'm wrong. I'll try this out and see if it works the way I need it to. Not sure that I have any other options. Thanks.

I believe Revit treats all slabs the same. There are a few of ways you can do this, but the cleanest method will be to use the slab edge tool that is already being referenced. Other options: 1. Create a profile (which you will need to do regardless). If you have different slab edges at different locations, make it parametric and assign family types to the profile family. Create an in-place sweep family in 3D and assign this profile to it. 2. Don't do it at all. This is a small piece of the model, and probably will not affect the outcome of the structure. You can detail it as needed in section. By the way, you need to pick the very edge of the slab in order to model on that edge. I typically will isolate the slab and slab edge categories when doing this. You can do this with the sunglasses. Isolate Category after selecting a slab and a slab edge. Reset when finished. Make sense?
