My project manager wants me to make a unique sheet to show our clients the future possibilities of an area in the building's plan. Her desire is to have a sheet with the present floor plan, and have a window on the same sheet showing the potential (read: future) layout of that space. I've attached a hand-sketched diagram of what she wants. I'm relatively new to making sheets and phases in Revit, so before I went down my path, I thought I should ask some of you what you feel would be the best method for tackling this? If you need more info, just ask.

You can use the phases in Revit for that. Put everything in the present floor plan into the existing phase and the future layout into the new phase. Duplicate the view and use the phasing in view properties to control the display. You might also consider design options to show the two different layouts.

Option 1: Duplicate the view with details. Then reinsert this view at the same scale as the overall plan into the sheet. Crop the view to the area of interest and draw over it in 2D using mask options to blank out what you don't want to see. Option 2: Use a callout view of the area and draw over it in 2D using mask options to blank out what you don't want to see. Option 3: Use design options to create a temporary option.

What tim123 suggests is best - either phases or options. Phases is probably better because it will include demolition and can be turned into your project drawings. Using 2D could work but would be a waste of time because you would throw it all away and it is harder to change. Use the power of Revit.
