Hi, I'm having limited success with using the decal command. I've followed tutorials fine but I don't seem to get the same result as they suggest. I've attacted an extract of my current render (the things behind the glass that the people are looking at) and a copy of the decal I am placing. Can anybody suggest why the decal is appearing like it is. To me it looks like its partyl transparent or something but that is set to 0 so i'm not sure what is up. Any help would be much apperciated.

you will have to create a model of a box or something to put it on. then make one of the faces its own subcatergory. then make a new material using that jpeg image. and apply it to the sub category and it should work perfect! if you need more explaing let me know i think i know where you can find a video. www.revittotd.com if not let me know.

I also have problems with having Decals showing up. I have placed a decal in my current project file, and also in a new project file. All I get in the current project file is a white rectangle, but in the new project file I can see the image. Why won't it show up in the current project? Both decals in both project files are pointed to the right location of the same image.

Need more information...Is your visual style set to realistic in both? Are you using the same version of Revit for both? Are you using phasing or design options?

Make sure the decal is where you think it is. Decals are face based and may be on a different face that is hidden from you.

Thanks for the replies teafoe5 and WWHub. Both projects are set on Realistic, and they are both in the same version of Revit (2013). I am using Design Options, but not for the elements that I am hosting the Decal on. And, I copied and pasted the successful decal element from the one project to the other one, and it is still hosted fine. So, I copied that Decal and was successfully able to paste onto the elements in the project. Yay! However, it comes in blurrier than the actual image file. It is rather large (19MB) because I am using the decal to represent a large 800' long LED screen. I was wondering if this also slows down the file, because my project file has slowed down a lot recently, and I'm not sure if it's because of the large decals or other geometry. I purged unused, and it's still chugging. Anybody, know about this? And, does anybody know if you can flip or change proportions of the decal once it is hosted?

more questions:
Why am I not able to place the same decal type on to a different wall? Both walls are the same wall type. One is just at a different angle from the other one? And, how do I turn off the black boundary lines of the decals?

Yes - large images will affect your system's performance when you have realistic views. So the question is why are you in a realistic view? You should be normally working in hidden line views and turn to realistic and shadows only when you need to.
BTW - Think about better use of worksets. I believe decals can be in worksets that you turn off when not needed.
