Revit Architecture 2010

I'd like to know if there's a good process for starting a fresh project (no extra drafting views, unused families, project info, etc) using an existing model from an old project.  I want to bring in a building that we did remodel work to in a previous job, remove any demo objects, and make everything existing.  I tried linking in the model then binding it, but the demo objects from before come in as the same phase as everything else.

In  a copy of the old file, from a 3d view, show only items to be demoed.  Delete them. 

Changing phases of objects can be tedious but here is a trick.  From settings / phases, change the name of existing to xxx.... then change the name of new construction to existing and then rename xxx to existing.  All items that were new are now existing.  You may have to adjust your graphic over-rides. Placeall new work in the new "new construction".
