I have one floor plate (5th floor) that is a dark gray color. All the others are a light gray color. It's the same floor with the same material (cast in place concrete). All the VG's are set up the same. Cut plane is the same as the other floors. Why is revit doing this to me? On a similar note, does revit ever forget things that you've done? Once the file gets large revit will forget things like walls that I've moved or CM's I've placed. Weird! You would think by 2010 they would have exercised the revit demons.

I just tried overiding the VG's. I made the floor white in this view. It's still gray. Got me!?

I am very confident in saying the demons you are experiencing are of your making - not Revit's. Keep working at it and you will start to discover yor errors. In regards to your floor. This too is something you have done. Make sure it really is the same floor with the same material. Make sure you have not over-ridden the material in this view either in VG or by painting on a surface. You say the VG is the same. Here is a test. Make a new view template from the view that is correct and apply that template to this view.

There are so many things that you could have done that this is hard to pin down. What kind of view are you looking at this in? A floor plan? Try these: (You can always undo unless you hit save) - Turn off all but the floor then use your paint bucket and apply a different finish. Did that work?
- If id did, then somehow you have the wrong finish applied or over-riden.
- Are you messing with phases? If so, verify what phase you have this floor in.
- Did you do the tempate test that I suggested?

I did the view template thing. It fixed the problem. I have no idea what I messed up. I even turned on hidden line view and it was still shaded. Anyways, it's fixed now. Thanks.

Good. As an early user, your tendency will be to blame the program for problems but for other that the hardware issues associated with 2010, you will find that if something moved, went away, doesn't look the same, point your finger at you or an associate because you will discover that it is user error. Stick with it... it gets way better.

I have been using revit for four years. Thanx for the advice though.
