I'm having touble displaying the hidden lines in the components that I insert into my Revit projects.

My company does custom cabinetry, I use Revit to make the parametric cabinet families first and then make a mockup of the kitchen room layout to fit the cabinets in.

In the end I need to produce shop drawings for the cabinets but I can't get thier hidden lines to display.

The "show hidden lines" tool requires you to select the obscuring object and then select the obscured object to display it in hidden line, but components select as a whole entity so there's no way I can find to show the drawer contruction as hidden line through the drawer facing when the whole cabinet is inserted as a component.

Any ideas?

Is this not possible in Revit? This is a deal beaker for my company unfortunately. If I can't build components and then output proper shop drawings with hidden lines after the design phase...

Look into using the linework tool.  Also look into whether or not it is something that you could establish as a model-line within the family so that it only shows up in certain views or even certain detail levels (that might be a good way; show your fabrication drawings using FINE detail which shows all or some of your model-based-lines.  Or just create drafting views to plop into your sheet drawing for those details.
