Anyone know what is the best way of creating openings in a dome roof. I have tried a standard opening cut vertically, but as opening is not cut perpendicular to the curved face it does not look right. Also it is trial and eroor as to where opening is with regard to cill height as you have to cut opening from above, not in elevation.
Also, how could I add model "ribs" to the dome to simulate joints in metal cladding ? On a standard pitched roof you could just create a ridge/hip profile but their are no lines to select on a dome ?

Use an in-place family void to cut the dome in elevation. You'll find it more accurate as you can cut in elevation if needed.
If you want to get the ridges then i suggest changing the segments to an appropriate value rather than smooth (0) as this would be more correct and then allow your the edges your require for the profiles.
