RAC 2010

i'm trying to put a curve on top of this rectangle..

but it only wants to snap to a half circle with a radius

of 3' 2"--- i want the top of the curve to be 3' at the top

of that center line.. if i type in a different radius i get

an error.. i can stop it at several positions below the

top of that line- but i can't change the radius number

or make the top of the curve snap to the top of that

center line..

Draw a ref plane at the where you want the top of the curve.  It will snap to that.

see the image- it only snaps to a half circle- it won't

snap to a reference plane..

has anyone ever attempted to admit that revit

is too hard to understand for 99.9% of all the

people who ever tried to learn it?

Draw a vertical ref plane on the centreline and use snap overides to snap to the intersection (type SI).

Although a flattering thought, I don't believe that I am in the top 0.1% of people that have tried to learn Revit.  I found that using the help and having a 'can do' attitude helps to learn the software quite quiclkly.  I know that I still have more to learn, but I am pleased with my progress so far.

Simple ... use a three point arc and on your options bar, select radius and enter the 3' dimension.  Now pick your line ends.

You have to pay attention to those darn options !

yes tim thanks- i'm just a slow learner.. some people are

pretty good at leaning revit..

that would be nice if i could type SI but autodesk

don't let us have any shortcut keys unless we

use the ribbon and i cannot use that..

we also don't get any model lines- but that's not

too bad..

i feel very very lucky i can use revit at all- and if

the standard interface doesn't work for 2011 then i'll

be forced to stay with 2010 forever- and that's not something

i've ever been inclined to do.. i started with revit version 8.

i know the ribbon very very well and it requires me to follow

workflows- and i can never do that.. and the QAT is a very poor

solution for me too..

i've posted comments at the autodesk discussion forum about

the ribbon- but i only made comments about little things that

needed to be fix and have always said i didn't think the ribbon

was fundamentally wrong- because i know many people think

like the ribbon.. but i will continue to push for the standard UI

as and option that gets supported and updated.. i'm very clear

on that now..
