Greetings,

Lately I've been creating 3D .dwg models from scan data. We build these models to represent true as-built conditions for Architects and Engineers.   My question;  How can i convert these models into intelligent Revit model families.

In other words i cannot manipulate the geometry or isolate parts of elements with visibility, cutplanes, etc.   Your ideas are greatly appriciated.

Hello

as I know, we make a conversion only if you are working in 3D studio, or auto cad modeling too, you can move itro this programs because they are to the same home.

If you ar in 3DS you most save the file as DWF file or any  cad formats DWG files, the key here is you have to be in model in other words, you most be in 3 dimentional drawing, with these conditions Revit will transform the cad file toa modeling revit file.

I hope this could help you.

You have to check out PointCab! you can set horizontal levels through target and intersect, so you can extract all the necessary information easily from the point cloud. you may check out this video too http://www.pointcab-software.com/en/video-tutorial-07-pointcab-results-autodesk-revit

Hi...

I can understand your problem, Maily i want to know that "Wheter u have did the 3D model with AEC Eliment or Simply 3D Solid Modelling" (Means in the property tool Bar its showing AEC Eliment or just a 3dSolid)..

 1) If u did with AEC.. u Can change those things to Revit intelligent model. By Exporting the liments into IFC format.. Than u can open that IFC format file in the AutoDesk Revit Software.

 2) If u did with 3dsolid.. If u export through IFC format also.. u won't get Revit intelligent model.. U will get only generic entity model..

I Have some more suggesion about this,. If u want u can contact me...

Dear,We are working from last 2 years in this field only... We are looking for the projects.. If u have this type projects means please suggest us.. We will give the best work with Nice Quality...

I do the exact same job as the guy at the top, creating as built models for architects,

I gave up on doing them in Dwg to convert to Revit, I find it's much less of a headache to just do it in Revit to begin with. I'm slowly finding I hardly ever use AutoCAD now, just use it to pull survey elevations and plans into Revit, from there all Revit modelling, well worth getting to grips with the software as editing time is so much quicker.
