I've created worksets for the elements in my project, ie columns, beams, slabs. However worksets have also been created for my views (sections, callouts, elevations, 3d). When I create a section in one workset, it creates a new workset for that section. For instance I'll create a section in the column workset and when I open the element properties of the section, the workset is labeled per the section, ie View "Section: Section 34", not Column. Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated.

That is correct - the view is a workset. Why did you create worksets for everything? Just because you can doesn't mean you should. BTW, you can delete worksets and you can read about that in your HELP Deleting Worksets
