I have a roof created from footprint of the exterior walls with a low slope from front to back. I need a beam and column system to support it. I currently have columns and beams (girders), and beam systems (purlins) inbetween the girders. My question, How do I get the structural system to follow the slope of the roof, so that the columns only go up to the roof and the girders/purlins follow the slope? Am I gng about this the wrong way, can you put girders and purlins in the roof extrusion itself? Ive attached a photo of what I right now. In green is the roof extrusion, and I have in red where I would like the girders. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

You will want to create a reference plane at that slope, (from that elevation view) and then attach your beam system to that reference plane, and then lock the plane, roof, and beam system together.

This is my typical workflow: I model the roof sheeting layer & furring channels (if required) as a roof. I then set the underside of the roof as the active workplane and create a beam system. This is then associated with the roof. If I choose to move the roof up, my beam system will move with it. In section I then draw my rafters. When selected the beam command revit will ask for a work plane, typically they are drawn on a grid so I select the appropriate grid and then draw the rafter in my section view. I then copy the rafter to other grids where similar beams need to be located. HTH.

Mr spot ...
I found your workflow for placing beam systems very helpful but i have come across another issue. Is it possible to place a beam system along a curved roof? i have tried everything but had no luck, can you give me any advice.

If your beams are perpendicular to the curve, you can use mr spots method. the beams will just lay out along the curve. If you actually need curved beams, i beleive you need to extrude a curved beam. This is a pain because if your roof changes, you need to make a new extrusion. I hope someone else can help you.
