i need a bit of help

i want to add drainpipes to my model in 3d but not sure of the best approach.

i also have two walls on top of each other modelled as in place extrusions.  they both need different materials and are both different widths (like a stacked wall), however, i need to place windows that pass through both walls but i can't do this without joining the two extrusions. i am comfortable with this but when i do join them, whichever one i click second inherits the material of the first.

i have assigned different material to each extrusion.  i was going to use split face and paint to get the material definition but i can't seem to use the split face tool on these in-place extruded walls

any suggestions will be much appreciated

If you had used walls, you would not have this problem because the window would cut both walls.  You may have to use a void to cut these extrusions.
