Hi,

I´ve been going over some of the other dormer related threads but still can´t sort this out.. I have 2 problems:

1. I´m finding it very difficult to cut the opening in the main roof. When I use the dormer opening tool, i can´t pick the curved line of the dormer roof connection to make a cut line. Revit places the pink line in the wrong place when I try to pick it (see attached image). I also cant use th opening by tol as apparently the objects used to make the cut cannot be attached to the object which is being cut (I keep getting a warning about this)

2. The project in question invulves putting dormers in an existing roof. I´ve used phasing before and it worked well. However I dont know if its possible to cut the opening in the existing roof (for the dormer) in such a way that it will still be shown in views where the phase is set to "existing" (i.e. can I demolish only a single awkward shaped part of a roof)

Thanks

C

1. Could you just create the roof opening by forming an internal loop of lines (if roof by footprint) while in plan view that would just create a hole in the roof object itself ?

2. Design Options. One roof with the hole and one without?

Create the roof with the opening cut in the roof sketch as suggested by dgcad.  Copy hte roof and paste it in the same place, change it's phase to demolished.  Edit the demolished roof and erase the external boundary lines, leaving only the dormer opening as the roof.
