When creating a window family, I have them displaying as I like all but for the line weight. Since it is made up of a sweep for the frame and extrusion for the glass, when viewed in plan view these objects display as thick bold lines where architecturally I need them thin lines. Short of hiding these elements in plan and elevation views and tracing them with symbolic lines is there any way to control the line weights of extrusions/sweeps when viewed in plan/elevation? (lineweight tool for elevation is not an option, as the point of creating a familiy is not to do monotonous drafting work for each window every time) RAC2009, thanks for any help.

Look at object styles. When you build your family, you can select which sub-category your solid is in... and you can add new sub-categories. The lineweight of these can be controlled under settings.

Thanks WWHub, I have another question along the same lines, I have created a floor in a wet areas and attached a tile material (essentially a 150mm crosshatch). Is there a way to control the line weight of these materials? When using the edit function (in both model and drafting pattern selection) there is options to adjust spacings and angles but nothing for actualy lineweight. These hatch patterns look very nice when sitting back (say.0.15-1 against 0.25-35 mm linework. It must in there somewhere but I cant for the life of me find an option to edit it.

Lineweight of hatches is not controllable ... they are all the same. I believe they use pen 1.

Hey Roxanneharris,
You can use the inbuilt parameter with columns to change the material, see image attached.
To change the line weight with Object Styles, go into the family and create an new Object Style and then select your extrusion and change the subcategory to your desired style. See attached
Kind Regards,
