I have an overall plan and larger scale plans in my drawing set. The four cardinal elevation tags as well as the ones corresponding to the larger scale elvations both show up on my overall plan. I created a new type of elevation tag so that I now have overall elevations as one type and all of my larger scale elevation tags in another. How do I "turn-off" the visibility for type associated with the larger scale elevations in my overall plan?

You can hide elevation tags in a view by higlighting them, right clicking and pick "hide annotation in view".
You can also use scope boxes, but they are a more advanced topic and for now until you gain more Revit experience I would just hide each elevation marker using the hide annotation method.
