I am using Revit Architecture 2009.

I am trying to link a file containing a floor plan (model group) into a site plan, but it is missing the attached detail group (dimensions, notes, room labels etc). I want to repeat this plan with its detail on the site many times, keeping the common plan and notes in one file.

I can see the attached detail group sitting under the model group in the browser, but how do I place it without binding the floor plan?

DEimensions... notes .... room labels are all annotations.  You are using a linked model.  2D vs 3D !  In order to see the 2D elements, you will have to link by view.

Thankfully I got some good advice on this today, so I now understand your short comment about "link by view".

Hopefully this helps others with have the same problem, because there is very little in the help file or on this forum.

You need to change the visibility settings (VV) so that the group displays as "link by view", then select floor plan or whatever view you are in to add the detail group.

The only problem I still face is that with nested groups, it only displays the detail from the top file Sad

Are these nested groups visible in the linked file's views?  Did you check that file? I don't understand.
