Hey there,

I'm using Revit Structure 2009.  This is my first Revit job, I've been using AutoCad 2010 previously.  The building I'm working on is a spralling university gym structure with many floor levels and ramps between them etc.  So I've been creating levels for the tops of footing and tops of steel girts.

My question is this, should I be creating levels for these items or should I be offsetting them from the floor levels.  I've been creating levels for most elements, but I'm realizing that I'm going to be ending up with a whole bunch by the time I'm finished modeling, and I'm concerned that it will bog down the model.

 Thanks!

Sure, makiing lots of levels is fine. If your project browser is getting too busy with plan views you do not have to create a 'plan view' of every level if you don't need to. When you make a level there is a check box to create a corrisponding plan view. If you decide later that you do want a plan view you can create one.

Typically, I have only seen major levels used then offsets for secondary elements.  All floors are levels but not intermediate landings on ramps or stairs.  Top of main footings... top of steel -all good.
