Hi all, Not sure how to pull this one off, and am considering switching to the sloped glazing method. However, before I do that I thought I'd consult the body. I have standing seam panels modelled using generic models and I'm trying to cutout two openings in the lower roof. As you know, openings only work on Floors/Roofs/Ceilings/Soffits of which the generic model is none of these. Thanks.

Why not use a 'void' and 'cut geometry' from within the gemeric model familie(s)? Voids remove material.

The openings are post-family creation. Each panel is approximate 16'x 13', and there are about 10 of them. Only two of the panels will have these openings. From what I think is being suggested, I would have to create and maintain an" instance" pair of panels specifically for the openings?

Actually, you can just create a parametric void (using instance labels) in the family. As an example, look at the stock library casework counter with opening. When placed, you can drag that opening to where you want it and the size you need....As a matter of fact, you can drag it over the edge and the opening cuts the edge ... or even drag it completely off the element and you have no opening. Darn .. I should start charging for this ... right Daryl? Have fun...

WW, As I read through your reply I progressively realized . . . . hmmmm he sounds just like me. Then I read your 'should be charging' statement and there we were 'on the same page' ! We'll hire you. Feel like heading up our MEP division ?

A tangential question about mirroring the standing seam roof. I've tried mirroring the SS roof along the ridge line of the roof or any kind of line for that matter), but for some reason it appears on a lower plane than the original. By that I mean that the mirrored SS roof shows up inside the actual structure of the roof rather than on the surface sheathing. Is mirroring an inclined object the cause of this? See attached: the left is the mirrored SS, while the right is the original. Thanks.
