Is there any way to make a void extrusion permanent? ie, You've made a void extrusion on an object, but you want to keep that objects current state/shape without having the void extrusions all over the place. Like set the object as a regular polygon after you have made the void extrustions. I don't think this is possible but I thought I'd ask. Using 2010 Cheers

Can you elaborate on what you mean? Voids are always permanent once the geometry has been cut.

They are permanent, but the void extrusions still have to be sitting there. I want to know if there is an option that makes the entity that has void extrusions a stand alone polygon, without hvaing the void extrusions sitting around the place. So the shape that you have created using the void extrusions, becomes its true form, without needing the extrusions to keep the shape. ie, get rid of the void extrustions, but the shape stays the same because that is its true form now. It's hard to explan but really simple at the same time.

I gotcha, as in some how 'clone the composite / resultant object' into a single object. Unfortunately there is no 'Convert to single object' tool that I am aware of but perhaps there is a sheaky way of doing it. As is the void has to hang around forever. Hmmm.

Yes. Exatly what I was asking. You just had a more eloquent and "to the point" way of phrasing it then I had.

Well if the resulting shape has no parameters to drive it and it will simply form part of model; what you could do is export it out to AutoCAD and then import it back in. You can then assign whatever material to it and you wouldnt see any voidextrusions. HTH

Interesting solution. And that is what I call a sneaky work around.
