I have a split level home im modelling, the split is due to sloping block and is about 2000mm difference in floors. It is to be displayed on one plan as it is not 2 storey as such (nothing overlaps, just steps down site). I have set up a printing view which incorporates the top level and has a view plan region over the lower level with a different cut plane to allow the doors and windows and wall details to show as cut. All is showing as it should, detail lines, walls doors etc except I cannot add rooms (room & area on the design bar, then room) to the lower level in the print view with the plan region. The upper level works fine bu Revit does not find a room on the lower level. So I tried adding the room in the actual view of the lower level and it worked fine but when I go back to the PRINT view plan the room name does not show up. All other objects I add are visible due to the plan region but not roomt tags. Is this intentional or is there a way to alter it so they show like evrything else in the plan region? Also is there a different method to tackling this split level design than altering view ranges with plan regions? Thanks

Is it possible that the height of your room definition is not tall enough to be cut by the plan region?

Tags are 'view specific'. You just need to add another room 'tag' to the print view. It will still use the original room name and number. I have tested it and it works fine. See attached image. If you are unable to 'tag' the room in the print view you may want to check the instance properties of the room itself. More specifically the room limits. Room: Upper Limit, Limit Offset, Base Offset.

Thanks for your replies. I have tried what you suggested but it is still not working yet. I have attached some images to help: Image 1 - When on the PRINT view, and I select room, it shows the bounding area but not the tag name. On the lower plan (the actual plan without a plan region), it shows the room tage plus I am hovering over the next room and it finds it to tag. Image 2 - Shows what happens in the print view when trying to tag that same room, it doesnt find any bounding areas. Image 3 - Shows the bounding areas which is obviously why it cant find it in Print view cause there are no bounding areas. 'If you are unable to 'tag' the room in the print view you may want to check the instance properties of the room itself. More specifically the room limits. Room: Upper Limit, Limit Offset, Base Offset.' Could you please explain a little what you mean by this. I have adjusted the 'upper limit' icons you can see in images 1 & 2 but it changes nothing, is that what you meant? Thanks again!

Draw a section through it to see the heights that the rooms extend to.

I have attached an image showing the room extending up to the upper level but still I cannot tag it. I have adjusted this height up and down with no success. If you look at the 3rd image in my earlier post, It still shows no bounding elements on the lower floor when in the upper view. What height would the room in the image below need to be set at for it to work? Edited on: Mon, Aug 17, 2009 at 9:34:03 PM

When I look at your earlier post's images, I note that the perimeter walls on the right are lower than those on the left. Your plan probably cuts above those walls and Revit can't see any room bounding elements... even though the room exists. Try lowering your plan cut plane ... better yet, use a plan region on this right half.
