Hello, I have a set of families, and I would like to assign materials to them for rendering. I tried the followed methods given below - 1.I edited each family, added a material parameter to each part/component. Given a value of <By category> to those parameters in the family. In the project, I have assigned a unique material to each component. But my rendering doesn't show the material. 2.I edited the family, assigned a material in the family itself. Once into the project, the family carried its material but still did not render with the same material. Any one could guide me to understand what seems to be happening here? Any suggestions? Thanks in advance, Radhika.

Assuming that you have set up hte material parameters correctly. it could also be: Revit can't find the maps for the materials if they're not from the standard library. You need to map to each folder where you have mapping images in the render settings, found in options. It could be a phase thing where the family is in a different phase, It will then render to the object properties of that phase.

Hi tim123, Thanks for your response, the problem sorted out. The problem was not with the families and their ability to take materials. I think the problem was with lights. The lights had a filter of a particular shade which made the rendering appear to be strange, without the materials in their real appearance. Once this was remedied, my rendering turned out pretty well. Thanks again, Radhika.

What setting did you change to remove the filter from the lights that were distorting your renderings? I have been having a similar challenge with materials not appearing as intended. Any insights would be appreciated.

Post an image of your rendering so that we can see what is happening.
