I was wondering if there is anyway to mask over an imported revit link? I have imported in a floor plan that I will be doing plumbing work over top of but I need to mask over part of the column grid that interferes with the key plan once it is brought into a sheet view. I have tried making the link an attachment as well as an overlay but the masked region still won't cover up what I need it to. Thanks!

Masking regions mask all model elements including linked files. You must be doing something else.

Any suggestions of what I could be doing wrong?

I have also had this problem. I don't think I am doing anything wrong as I have used masking regions quite a bit and they really aren't that complicated to begin with... The mask will cover any elements I have added but the link still shows.

I repeat - model elements. Are you trying to mask annotative elements in a linked view?

Annotations will not mask....Not even in your own model.

you can control what is being displayed on your linked model through the Visibility/Graphics settings of your view. if you choose custom settings you can turn off/on any element. you can turn off your annotations altogether. like WWhub said, masking regions will not cover annotations, and I'll used them sparsely...

The issue we are having is that only a few of the annotations (room tags in this case) need to be hidden while the others need to show.

i think you should hide the stuff you dont need before linking it into Revit. that is the best option i can think of right now.

mirakation,
No, you don't want to open the linked file and turn them off there. That defeats the linking process.
You can hide individual elements from a linked file. You can also turn off categories in a linked file independent of your view using VG.

mirakation,
There is a misunderstanding but it seems to be yours. The question was about a Revit link, not a 2D drawing link.
The 2D items in question are from a linked revit view and should be controlled by category through VG or individually using the tab key and over-riding graphics in view.
