Hi all,

My first post to RevitCity, I'm impressed with the level of assistance everyone seems to provide to fellow users in need - it's a big help for all us new users.

My question is relating to IFC import settings - specifically the transfer of an ADT 2007 model through IFC into Revit 2009 Architecture Suite. It seems to transfer fine except the material definitions do not carry over - now if it is possible that materials do not transfer between the two, how do I assign materials to the model through Revit after the transfer? Or can I? The geometry in the ADT model seems to be limited in general within the Revit platform.

Best Regards all, and I thank you for your time in advance.

Being new to RC you may not have yet seen this.  We ask posters that answer their own questions to follow up with their answer.  That gives us a good searchable database.

Thanks

No problem....

I select, for example, a curtain wall assembly, click the edit button (edit family) then select the specific component (ie. infill). It shows as an IFC assigned material at this point. I can then go into the material editor and select the type and render appearance from there. That seems to change all the like materials within the family - it however does not translate through to the other curtain walls that were originally in the same style but now seem to be separate families in Revit.

Regards,
