Hi,

I am working on a project of office cabins. Please suggest me on few things below:

1) I want to show two different option for ceiling lights. Is there any way to turn on the required light and off other?

2) Will the schedule gets automatically updated after turning on or off? Also if i want to generate schedule for one cabin which will give me all details like wall area, ceiling lights , wc etc.. - I dont know but if possible then help me.

3)Also i have to add values like cost , specification etc to the schedule. What will be the right procedure for that?

4) YES / No parameter - is it available in families only?

Thanks in advance

Ramesh Sharma

  1. Did you use option to search your HELP?  If yuou had, you would see that you can use Design Options to do what you want.
  2. Read this in your HELP: Dedicating Views to Design Options
  3. How you choose to add costs is up to you.  However you choose, they will have to be shared parameters if you want them to schedule. You can add individual costs to families.
  4. Y/N are also available in schedules.

Please advice me.

I need a typical office cabin with external and internal walls, door & windows.

Now i want to develop my design using this typical cabin by turning interior walls off as per requirement. Is it possible?

Can we create a single family with walls, door & window in it and then assign YES / NO parameters to them? Then if i load this family to my project then i can easily work on my design.

I dont know if design option can really help into this.

It appears that you need a better grasp of the fundamentals of Revit before you develope what you are doing.  Walls are not available in families.  Instead, you need to look at groups.  Y/N will not be available here but you can have different groups.  However, groups really require a better understanding than a novice level.

For now, I suggest you develope a "cabin" in you model.  You can either copy to clipboard and paste in other locations or group that and place elsewhere.

I know that walls are not available in families.

Groups can definitely help me upto some extent.

To be honest - I am confused on how to achieve this task. Client needs that if there is any door or window in walls then there should be some option to turn it on or off which is not possible.

Nyway thanks for your time Hub.

Study groups some more.... There are options there which you have not yet discovered.  Read this topic "Excluding Elements from a Group Instance"

Thanks a lot Hub. This is exactly what i was looking for.

Now the only main task left to me -

Generate a schedule for a typical cabin with all the informations like walls area, number of doors or windows, fixtures, finishes area etc. This will help me to provide client the full details of a typical cabin.

I can create schedule individually but trying to find a way to club them.

Thanks once again

Hi

I am getting little success with multi-categories schedule but need some expert advice.

See attached snapshop for schedule. Schedule now showing all columns, doors & windows. The items missing from schedule are walls, floor & ceilings.

See attached snapshot 2 for my shared parameter properties and please advice me something.

 Thanks in advance
