hi, we're visualizers, our goal is not to be 100 percent accurate but to give our clients beautiful images which are accurate, but beauty is the keyword. we're max users, i want to ask the arch viz people, if we include revit in our pipeline, how would it go, please share your workflow, i assume you'd do the structure in max,but do you keep your furniture in max or do you model it in revt, what kind of furnishing do you do in max and what elements do you make in revit. just want to know how everyone else appoaches arch viz

'assume you'd do the structure in max,but ' im sorry ,what i meant was 'i assume you'd do the structure in revit' anyway,no replies to this one,...i think sharing the way you work would enlighten a lot of people, so please take the time to share how you work, i mean once you get the plan, how do you approach building a 3d visualization, im sure not everone follows the same paradigm,so it would be fruitful to know how different people would do things.

We typically use Revit for building the model and visualisation. To avoid clogging up the model we use a different workset for entourage, which would include anything that's not part of the building, but produces nice images, such as entertainment centres, books, internal plants, pictures on the wall etc. The mental ray rendering engine in Revit produces good results. I understand that Max has more powerful rendering capabilities but for most situations the visualisations that can be achieved in Revit are quite satisfactory.

I personally try to create as much content as possible in Revit. I apply all my materials and lighting+IES in Revit as well. Once I am happy with the level of detail in Revit I then filter out the unwanted elements and export to fbx. I then import the fbx into Max and save it as a file to be used to xref. I then create a "master" scene in Max and xref the imported fbx to max file. This workflow allows me to use all my settings in my master file and have the ability to update my Revit model. Just an easy time saver.
