Is there a place within a project I can go to delete a family that I have loaded that I do not want to see in the project.

You can just select it in the browser and hit delete.

To be more specific (in case you didn't catch what WWhub meant) look on the left where all your views and sheets are listed (the Project Browser). At the bottom there's a + for Families. You can browse in there for any family you've loaded into the project and do things such as Rename, go to Properties, and Delete etc. HTH.
