i am trying to keynote my plans???

if i have a key note i need to call 1 and say it is a folding partitin door.  i have set my keynote in the door family to 1.  when i go to make the keynote schedule  it does not give the text for the door it just states 1 and the text is blank.  not sure how to link the two together. i am not sure if i am making any sense but any help on how to make a keynote schedule would be great.  also i have watched a few youtube clips and they did not help a lot.

IK suggest you start by reading all the items in your HELP for keynoting.

Database ... I guess you can call it that - It's just a simple txt file .... you can do it with word ... notepad or excell but it has to be in the correct format.

Keynote number        Keynote text (all in one line)

NOW THAT I HAVE IT FIGURED OUT, I HAVE ANOTHER QUESTION.  WHEN SORTING BY KEYNOTE OR BY SHEET IT SEEMS TO CHANGE IT IN ALL INSTANCES.  IS THERE A WAY TO HAVE EACH LEGEND ONLY SORT ONE WAY OR THE OTHER OR WILL IT ALWAYS SORT ALL LEGENDS TOGETHER.  ALSO CAN REVIT PULL INFO FROM MULTIPLE TXT FILES FOR DIFFERENT KEYNOTE NUMBERING.

"IS THERE A WAY TO HAVE EACH LEGEND ONLY SORT ONE WAY OR THE OTHER" - Set up different legends.

"CAN REVIT PULL INFO FROM MULTIPLE TXT FILES FOR DIFFERENT KEYNOTE NUMBERING "  No - But you can use A1, A2, A3 and C1, C2, C3 ... etc then filter in your legends.

Numbering method "by sheet" - "by keynote" is a project setting ... One or the other.

So by setting up seperate legends, each legend is not dependent on whether or not the other is set to sheet or keynote.  I have tried that but it still seems to be changing all my legends. is that what you mmean by project setting.

Settings / keynotes ... is where you set the numbering method PERIOD!

But, you can flter / sort  - your keynotes in your legend (s).   And you can use different keynote tags.  We use one shape for general keynotes (G1...etc)   and have a legend that sorts those... then a different tag for specific keynots and have a legend that sorts those.
