First of all what type of files are those in the downloads sections like furnitures cars etc. the ones with materials on them when rendered? are they .3ds, .skp etc??... When an object was created on autocad and exported to 3ds it has layers for what material would you like to apply on it but why those those in the download sections cant change their materials?? please help me on this querry.. thanks!

For families that are created from embedded CAD files...to assign colors or materials on a by-layer basis, click SettingsObject Styles, and change settings on the Imported Objects tab

Thanks WWHub! Ive done it but when i transfer the .rfa file in a family folder should i transfer the jpeg materials that i used to the same folder? A warning prompt says when i render that "it cannot find jpeg material....etc.? should i attatch all over again every jpeg material when i render??it's so annoying... My concern is how to make things like those in the downloads section? i don't know but i can't find they're materials on the settings object styles, do u know what file they are? thank you!!

This is directly out of the HELP: It really pays to look there first. Best Practice for Storing Image Files Store image files related to a project in one location. Specify this location on the Rendering tab of the Options dialog. If you need to send a project file to a team member, you can also send the directory containing its image files. This strategy ensures that the team member has all files required for the project, and that custom render appearances and decals display properly in the project.

I see, I got it...SIGHS* then another team member needs to find the location of that material again if it doesn't render that portion...a bit of waste of time though...but thanks anyway!!! But i know your aware about families that revitcity is giving us, i'm asking, does anyone know what type/kind of file are those that they haven't had their separate folder for the materials used when we download them?, i'm just curious about that because its really an ease using them... Thanks WWHub! and revitcity!!!

Most items in the download sections are pre 2009 and were set up for accurender. As such, they used simple bitmaps and are easily assigned materials from the new library. Where you may need additional files are with rpc items like people or trees. I haven't see any of those in the downloads area but they may be there. We may have to add here at RC a method to accomodate the added files required for these items. For your project files...Note - put your library with the project - not on your PC and all memebrs of your local team can map to it there.

I see, now i'm aware of those pre 2009 for accurender and how bout those pretty nice cars, and furnitures for accurender, you gotta see one of them, it's like a bunch of stuffs put in together before it was imported as an rfa file that when it already an rfa it cant nver change i think...the materials on the object styles was not in there.... Anyway, thank you about that putting in one folder all material used and all the effortjust to clear me about this.. thanks WWHub!
