Hi again I am trying to change the colour of my garage doors but when I do so, all the other doors in my model are also changing colour aswell which I don't want. I assumed I would need to try and isolate the garage doors somehow, so I have made a duplicate and also opened the family editor to make the colour changes. Everything appears to be fine and I can even see the new colour that I want i n the preview box before you load a family, but when I actually place the garage doors, the colour is still the same as it originally was. The only way I can get the colur to change is by selecting the garage doors, going into editing the element type and changing the colour of the door panel and frame there, but doing it that way then changes the colours of all the other doors in my model. Any ideas anybody please on how to sort this out? I am using Revit 2010 Thanks Kirk

Ksmith The colour is part of the material you have given the door in the family. Create a material (in the family) with a unique name that doen't exist in your project. Them you will then have control over the material/colour. John A

You can just give it a new material. Typically doors have a material called 'Door - Panel' which affects all doors. Duplicate this material and apply it to the garage door.

If you could go to the door family select the door material parameter and change it from a type to an instance. then reload it into your project this should allow you to change the door material on individual doors. John A

Tim & Diana, thanks ever so much for the replies and I will put them into practice as soon as I get a minute to do so. Cheers Kirk
