Hi All I wondered if anyone could help please. I'm looking to purchase a 2nd hand copy (legal copy) of revit 2009, which has the license key on the back of the case, etc. Will I be able to activate it without any problems or is there any information i need off the seller? Many thanks in advance Paul

i don't that Autodesk allows 2nd hand sell of and tranfer if it's license software any more. you might want to check with Autodesk first before you buy. hth

From th AutoDESK site: 4. How does product activation work?An activation request includes the product information (such as product name, serial number, and product version number) and a request code. The request code is displayed next to the serial number in the Register Today screen. This code identifies each activation request and contains no other information about the product or hardware. It consists of a machine ID and a set of values such as the type and date of the request. The machine ID is a randomly computed 64-bit value, which cannot be used to identify the make or model of your computer or any of its components. The make or model of the computer or its components cannot be determined from the Machine ID. It simply ensures that the software is not activated on any ineligible computers. You send your activation request to Autodesk through a secure Internet connection or by email. If the request is valid, you receive an activation code and your product is immediately available for use. I do not believe they allow for a license transfer.

thanks for the replies... i've spoken with a couple of autodesk sales reps and they have both told me that you cannot buy a secondhand copy of any autodesk products, because when they purchasedd they are registered to the company that bought it and cannot be transfered. He also said that the software is'nt worth the price, but autodesk have cornered the market and charge whatever they like. So you basically are paying fro the license to us it. So i've now got to find £4000 for the lastest version...crazy....
