I don't understand how to edit a sweep. I have loaded a pre-cast concrete cornice to a wall from the revit library. The cornice is 5'2" tall and extend above the wall some predefined height. I would like the cornice to be 3'6" tall and I can't figure out how to edit it. I openned the family and tried to scale it but there were some constraints in place that made it behave in a way that I didn't expect and don't understand. I know this might be a very basic question, but I would appreciate anyone's suggestions. Thanks.

The sweep is made from a profile. You may need to edit that profile.

One thing, if the family has "but there were some constraints" the constraints, first try in the project, (not in family) in the project browser>profiles, expand and pick in the name of that profile, edit the properties and check if it has a parameter for "height", if so, change in there, don't need to change in family, IF NOT you must change in the family...
