I'm working on a log home project and created a wall sweep in the form of a log and extended up the wall. i have attached the top of the wall to the bottom of the gable end of the roof however, the log sweeps that i have created aren't stopping at the roof and extend past. Hw can i get the wall sweeps to attach cleanly at the bottom of the roof? any help and/or suggestions would be great. I have attached a jpg of the issue.

I know that this seems like a beginner issue that nobody wants to bother answering, but i am a beginner and would love to figure this out. i've researched it a little more and it seems like i can void out the sweeps. i've tried that and was unsuccesful. i tried to make an in-place wall family for the void to work and still nothing. any help......anything....would be greatly appreciated.

As you have found out, wall sweeps don't work well for this. Instead, do an inplace family for your wall that is your stacked log profile and include a void form then that cuts the family to your gable profile.

Note ... I still have a wall behind this log "face" to host my door.

More images on construction ... pick your wall face as your work plane. Do the void in the same family... you will need to set a negative number as the start for the void.

Yeah, you are right.... but you can also using the void to cut what you want....

What version are you using? In 2010, if you select the wall you can edit the wall's profile to make it appear how you want. This can be used instead of creating a void. Seems simpler to me.

Mars ... sweeps will not trim at an angle - no matter how you edit the wall profile.

Ok, good to know. I have worked with wall profiles for blockouts in foundation walls and that had worked rather nicely. I admit I haven't tried doing it as an angled line. So I apologize for the misinformation; but still, ended up learning something new as well. Thanks.
