This Mass has no solid geometry for its Void Forms to cut. They must be deleted, or solid geometry added and cut.

A little more info to help out, what are you trying to accomplish?

Are you trying to remove geometry from a system family such as a roof?

If so, try using the generic model catagory instead and create it as a void. By rule, you can't have a void mass, there has to be a solid mass to subtract from...defeats the whole purpose of a mass. You can however,  have a void generic model that can cut geometry from your model... or use the opening tool if you are just trying to cut an opening in a wall, roof, floor and so on.

But again, more info needed.

I have worked around this same problem before by creating a solid mass in the family just so that Revit gets what it wants, then turn off its visibility. You can keep the void and do what you want with it.

One minor problem in doing this way is finding a way to select the in-place family afterwards for editing because you will be trying to select something which is invisible. So think of naming for the model when you create it. It may be helpful to recognize it in the list of objects.
