I am new to Revit and am try to learn Revit 2010. The problem I am having and can not seem to find a way around is that when I create a building pad on my topography it changes the topography. I do not want this to happen as I am trying to create the existing site with existing buildings. I have attached (hopefully) a before image and an after image so that you can see what it is doing. Any suggestions as to how I can stop this from happening?

The problem is that REVIT creates the contours from know data and interpolates for all points between that know data. When you place your pad, it interups that process and revit assumes a new pont at the edge of the pad. You need to give REVIT some additional points... maybe along the pad line or just more points along the contour before you add the pad.
