I have a project where I have alrady laid out a grid. They have been working fine for several months, then they magically vanished. They are not hidden, and I have checked the scales, checked the hidden items... We also tried drawing new grids, but when we try to rename them to what they were before, it says that there is already a grid with that number. Any thoughts??? Sorry- rush on this- deadline Thursday on this project!!!!!!

No magic .... The grids are still in your project. Have you enebled worksets? Is the workset on that has your grids? You don't say - did you check VG?

Can the grid lines be seen in any elevations or sections? The depth and height that the grid lines extend to can be adjusted in these views (when the 3d indicator is on). Also, if you create a new plan does it show grid lines? If so, they are probably hidden in the other views.

I tried all of those things- nadda. I found two of the grids in a callout, but even when I expand the crop region, none of the others are visable. I am wondering about the 2D/3D options on the grid lines. The two grids that I found were set to 2D in the callout. I am wondering if that has anything to do with it.

Click on the 2D and it will change to 3D. See where it extends to.

Ok, I figured it out. if you find one, click maximize 3D extents, then you can click select all instances, and maximize 3D extents again for all of them. Thanks for the help everyone.

Yeah, I checked everything I could think of in the settings. I stilll am not sure WHY it happened, but I fixed it, so I'm happy.
