I am drawing an addition onto a building and now im adding all of my steel columns and beams. Out of nowhere everytime i select an object such as a beam or a floor it tells me i need to unjoin the element so if i click okay it move my stuff all around. Why is it assosiating everything as being joined i can attach a file for Revit structural 2010 if anyone wants to look at it.

Thanks,

Lance

when you move things, use the move command. Check the option bar, there is a option for the move command "Disjoin" see if this helps.

Revit tries to act smart, it will join objects together thinking that if one moves, the other needs to move. this happens a lot with slab edges and walls, beams on structural walls, etc.

Be aware that when you disjoin, all tags and dimensions "joined" to the element are now lost and will disappear.  However, this is your only option in some instances.  Just be aware that you need to go back and replace the lost tags and dimensions .. in all affected views!
