I have a roof gable end with a wall below which I now wish to extend upwards to fill in the gable end.

The wall is a brick wall and behaved normally until I tried to "Attach" the wall to the roof.

On attaching the wall extended to meet the roof but in 3d view the extended triangular part renders only in grey whereas the bottom rectangular part renders as brick.

Aren't they the same wall?  Why the different rendering?

I built a shed and attached to a gable ended roof and found the behaviour to be correct... so the problem had to be specific to my end wall.

So I killed the wall; created a new one and then did an attach to the roof and all is now well.

Somehow the wall must have got itself in a strange state.  Spooky

This normally happens when the roof does not extend totally over the wall, so that only part of the wall is attaching to the roof.
