Hi, my problem in Revit 2009 - trying to render 2 different color standing seam roof panels in one render. I can't seem to duplicate the render material. I did create 2 different materials (Mtl Panel and Mtl Panel 2) but when I change one render materal color the other changes as well. Is there a way around this or will I need to modify another Render material to match the Standing seam roof panle render material? Hope this makes sence. Thanks

You obviously did not really create two different materials. You just created two material names - each assigned with the same material. You need to assign a different material to each one.

OK, So I created 2 Materials (Material Names) and I am using 1 Render Appearnce(Material) for both, I want the same material (Standing Seam Roofing) as 2 different colors in 1 rendering. Can the Material (render Appearance) be duplicated or will I need to find a material (Render Appearance) with similar properies and change it into a Standing seam roofing material (Render Appearance).

Create your two different materials and in each material set it the way that you would like it to appear in the Render Appearance dialogue. Once you are in there you can change anything without affecting other materials (unless you edit the maps using another software).

Thanks WWHub and tim123, I did the same thing 2 times before and the actual render material would stay the same for the 2 materials, so I did it a 3rd time and it worked, I am sure I did something wrong the first 2 but anyway, it is working now and looks good. Thanks for yalls help! RevitCity Rocks!!

you need to dublicate the roof itself and then rename the duplicated one wiyh another name. and then you can assign each of the roofs one of the materils that you created.

adiga, I think you should re-read the original question because it was about two different materials in the same roof, not two roofs.
