hi im really newbie around here and revit at all.... well, the situation is following- i have beenstarting to project log buildings on archicad with artlogs but that means that i have to work with archicad v6,5 and after first kemping house i found it really NOT interesting.... well than now i think that revit could have really high potential for that. for vizualization it's ok but i need everything for production, like detalization of each log and nc code etc..... and i cannot find out how to do that, yes i've seen a lot of log houses, but none till now with detalization of logs.. and maybe you could say if revit is real place to do that at all(i'm using revit 2010 arcitecture), and maybe you could suggest right place if you know some better or easier, cuz archicad 6,5 is like from stone age :D thank you allready

If you want to have a material take off schedule then you will have to create a parametric family for the logs. Create a type for each log length and detail. You could have a parameter for length, diameter and even notches. Of course you can insert the same type when the specifications are the same. Windows and doors are hosted by walls so create a void, insert a wall, insert the window/door. It's a lot of work but may be the only way to get the info your looking for. I'm not familiar with getting data from Revit or CAD to CNC. LOL, John

I think you would have to make every log as its own family. I'm not sure there is a better way.
