Hi everyone,

Quick question, does any one know how to calculate the area of something (for example glazing).  I am in an architect's model and have copied a window over to an open area.  right click, properties does not provide any info.

I am a mechanical engineer and would like to do this in my MEP model on the architect's linked file.  It would be amazing if I could do this.

Thanks!

Joe

There isnt a straight forward answer. It depends on a lot of differnt factors.

1. You could schedule the material (glass).

2. You can edit the family to have parameters for the height and width, and have another parameter calcuate the area.

3. you can use the height and width of the window to get the area and subtract the framing materials?

Its not something that has a straight forward answer and without a litle more info about the window itself, the only answers i can imaging you getting are ones like mine.

Hope it helps.
