Can anyone compare/contrast the capabilities of VE and Ecotect? I'm looking for a sustainablity add-on package that will allow us to do some energy modeling earlier in the design process. Ecotect would appear to have a nicer GUI than VE but that's only from screenshots I've seen. My fear with Ecotect is that Autodesk has bought it only to kill it off;ala Lightscape. I want to invest in a package that will be around for the long haul. Can anyone offer some guidance?

I have heard that Green Building Studio (also aquired by Autodesk) could eventually be incorporated into Revit. I have been unable to verify this, but there is a Revit plug-in for GBS. See: http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/index?id=11179508&siteID=123112
